Traveling is a basic game activity that uses the Agility skill in a way that is unique and different from other activities. This can be noticed in how the game calculates experience and how it applies efficiency.

Traveling Experience Formula

Experience = Base Distance * (0.096736) × 2.718280.016592 × Agility level

Note that the formula does not take your traveling efficiency into account - which can be obtained from you agility level as well.

The Base Distance is the raw distance between two locations that form a Route - without modifiers.

A list of all routes can be found here.

Traveling Efficiency Calculation

  1. Each set of points has an initial base distance between them, described as work, with 1 work unit equating to 1 step.
  2. This base then has efficiencies applied to it. The efficiencies are obtained from leveling up agility and from equipment bonuses. Agility gives a +0.5% efficiency bonus for each level when traveling. The equipment bonus is as stated in the details for that item for either Agility or Traveling. These bonuses are added to the base 100% efficiency that you have for every activity. The new distance is the base distance divided by the efficiency (as a number, not a percent).
  3. This calculated distance is then divided by 10 to create the individual action between each location.
  4. The steps per action are then modified by any direct step reduction from items.
    • Minimum of 5 steps per action
  5. The steps per action are then rounded up to the nearest full step.
  6. Finally, the calculated steps are multiplied by 10 to get the displayed distance between locations.

Note: There is no work efficiency cap on traveling.

Example with Agility levels Only

If we want to travel from the Disenchanted Forest to Kallaheim with an agility level of 30 and no gear.

  1. We want to travel from the Disenchanted Forest to Kallaheim.
    • There is a base distance of 450 work units (steps).
  2. We have level 30 agility, so we need to calculate the efficiency from levels.
    • 450 steps ÷ (1.00 base efficiency + (30 × 0.005 level efficiency)) = 450 steps ÷ (1.00 base efficiency + 0.15 total level efficiency) = 450 steps ÷ 1.15 total efficiency = 391.30 steps with efficiency
  3. We take the calculated 391.30 steps between Disenchanted Forest to Kallaheim and divide by 10.
    • 391.30 steps ÷ 10 actions = 39.130 steps per action
  4. We have no step reduction so the steps per action remains the same.
    • 39.130 steps per action - 0.0 steps per action = 39.130 corrected steps per action
  5. We need to round the corrected steps per action.
    • 39.130 corrected steps per action rounds up to 40 steps per action
  6. We calculate the new total distance to display.
    • 40 rounded steps per action × 10 actions = 400 displayed steps between the Disenchanted Forest and Kallaheim

Example with Agility levels and Work Efficiency Gear

If we want to travel from the Disenchanted Forest to Kallaheim with an agility level of 30 and a Walking Stick which has a +5.0% work efficiency for agility.

  1. We want to travel from the Disenchanted Forest to Kallaheim.
    • There is a base distance of 450 work units (steps).
  2. We have level 30 agility, and +5.0% from our gear so we need to calculate the efficiency from both.
    • 450 steps ÷ (1.00 base efficiency + (30 × 0.005 level efficiency) + 0.05 item efficiency) = 450 steps ÷ (1.00 base efficiency + 0.15 total level efficiency + 0.05 item efficiency) = 450 steps ÷ 1.20 total efficiency = 375.00 steps with efficiency
  3. We take the calculated 375.00 steps between Disenchanted Forest to Kallaheim and divide by 10.
    • 375.00 steps ÷ 10 actions = 37.500 steps per action.
  4. We have no step reduction so the steps per action remains the same.
    • 37.500 steps per action - 0.0 steps per action = 37.500 corrected steps per action
  5. We need to round the corrected steps per action.
    • 37.500 corrected steps per action rounds up to 38 steps per action
  6. We calculate the new total distance to display.
    • 38 rounded steps per action × 10 actions = 380 displayed steps between the Disenchanted Forest and Kallaheim

Example with Agility levels, Work Efficiency Gear, and Step Reduction Gear

If we want to travel from the Disenchanted Forest to Kallaheim with an agility level of 30 and Medieval Sneakers which have a +15.0% work efficiency for traveling, and a flat -5.0 steps required for traveling.

  1. We want to travel from the Disenchanted Forest to Kallaheim.
    • There is a base distance of 450 work units (steps).
  2. We have level 30 agility, and +5.0% from our gear so we need to calculate the efficiency from both.
    • 450 steps ÷ (1.00 base efficiency + (25 × 0.005 level efficiency) + 0.15 item efficiency) = 450 steps ÷ (1.00 base efficiency + 0.15 total level efficiency + 0.15 item efficiency) = 450 steps ÷ 1.30 total efficiency = 346.15 steps with efficiency
  3. We take the calculated 346.15 steps between Disenchanted Forest to Kallaheim and divide by 10.
    • 346.15 steps ÷ 10 actions = 34.615 steps per action.
  4. We have a -5.0 step reduction from our gear so we need to reduce the steps per action.
    • 34.615 steps per action - 5.0 steps per action = 29.615 corrected steps per action
  5. We need to round the corrected steps per action.
    • 29.615 corrected steps per action rounds up to 30 steps per action
  6. We calculate the new total distance to display.
    • 30 rounded steps per action × 10 actions = 300 displayed steps between the Disenchanted Forest and Kallaheim
