Find Gems Calculation

  1. Most Mining activities have a chance to roll on a gem table.
    • The gem tables generally correspond to a region or a faction. All gem tables are listed here.
  2. Find gems percentage bonuses from attributes is calculated.
  3. These bonuses are added to the base find gems multiplier that you have.
  4. The base chance to find gems (1% or 1/100) is multiplied by the calculated find gems multiplier.
  5. The modified find gems odds are rolled on a loot table.

Note that we can quickly get a value by simply adding the total percent find gems to 1 and dividing by 100.

Example with No Find Gems Bonuses

If we want to Mine coal with no equipment, and we complete a mining action.

  1. Coal mining is able to give a roll on the Jarvonia gem table in its loot tables.
  2. We have no equipment, so we have no percent gem finding bonus.
    • Gem finding bonus = 0.00
  3. We added our gem finding bonus to the base gem finding multiplier that you have.
    • 1.00 gem finding multiplier + 0.00 gem finding bonus = 1.00 calculated gem finding multiplier
  4. We multiply the base gem drop chance by the calculated gem finding multiplier.
    • 0.01 × 1.00 = 0.01 modified find gems odds
  5. The modified find gems odds are rolled on a loot table.
    • Our 0.01 modified find gems odds gives us a 1/100 chance per action completed to receive a gem drop.

Example with a Find Gems Bonus

If we want to Mine coal with a Shovel axe, and we complete a mining action.

  1. Coal mining is able to give a roll on the Jarvonia gem table in its loot tables.
  2. Our Shovel axe gives a +20.0% to find gems
    • Gem finding bonus = 0.20
  3. We added our find gems bonus to the base find gems multiplier that you have.
    • 1.00 find gems multiplier + 0.20 find gems bonus = 1.20 calculated find gems multiplier
  4. We multiply the base gem finding chance by the calculated find gems multiplier.
    • 0.01 × 1.20 = 0.012 modified find gems odds
  5. The modified find gems odds are rolled on a loot table.
    • Our 0.012 modified find gems odds gives us a 1.20/100 chance per action completed to receive a gem drop.
