Guide:Darkbow's Bog Beating tips
Introduction

This guide aims to bring together info, considerations and tips that all relate to the newest "Bog" region that was added to the game.
The new area features two major downsides that need to be taken into account when traveling there:
- Traveling in and out of the Bog is done via activities, this means traditional traveling gear does not work and over-encumbrance mechanics become an issue when traveling out of the bog.
- Traveling inside of the Bog requires light sources which again adds to the inventory management.
Highlights of the Bog:
- Advanced sawmill (for mangrove planks)
- A new faction
- Great drop rate on the Circular Root Trinket
- Best drop rate on the Beaver Trinket
- And of course the new items unique to the area like Bamboo Logs
Traveling out of the bog gives you an opportunity to pass by the job boards zero-time to pick up or deliver jobs. This is essentially the best way to farm Trinketry Chests.
Traveling to and from

There are three ways to get into the bog.
- A foraging activity: Venture Into The Woods
- An agility activity: Venture Into The Bog
- A mining activity: Explore Underwater Cave
There are three ways to get out of the bog.
- An agility activity: Run For Your Life
- A mining activity: Explore Bog Bottom
- Teleport via Ring of Homesickness or Algae Ring
A key realization is that these "traveling activities" do not provide any drops. Hence we don't care about most tool/equipment attributes in the game and only care about work efficiency when optimizing our "bog traveling" gear. Since 25% WE can be obtained for free from being above the level requirement, it is easy to reach near maximum WE (and thus near minimum traveling steps).

Foraging entry
Venture Into The Woods has a max WE% cap of 100%.
Key items:
- Blue Ice Sickle or Hydrilium Sickle (eternal) provide 40 WE
- Cape of Half-Achiever/Cape of Achiever provide 9/20 WE respectively.
The achievement track capes are among the best cape slots in the game and will probably be worn anyway. Combining this with just one tool slot you can reach 49+25=74% or 60+25=85% WE already with just one inventory slot.
Additionally the collectibles Blue Lotus Butterfly and Expedition Journal give another 2% WE.
Agility entry
Venture Into The Bog has a max WE% cap of 100%.
Key items:
- Flowy Trousers provide 10% WE.
- Gem Shield provides a small WE bonus but is crucial as a light source!
- Cape of Half-Achiever/Cape of Achiever provide 9/20 WE respectively.
Additionally the collectibles Blue Lotus Butterfly and Ancient Ankh give another 2% WE.
Mining entry
Explore Underwater Cave has a max WE% cap of 100%.
Key items:
- Farganite Pickaxe/Hydrilium Pickaxe provide 46/40 WE respectively.
- Shovel Axe might have a niche use here at 45 WE
- Hydrilium Magnet provide 7-12 WE depending on quality.
- Cape of Half-Achiever/Cape of Achiever provide 9/20 WE respectively.
The downside of this entrance is the need to wear Advanced Diving Gear Set. But at least the higher team items of the set also provide WE.
A huge upside to this entry is that the exit activity is also a mining activity and hence uses the same gear!
Additionally the collectible Ancient Ankh give another 1% WE.
Agility exit
TODO + traveling after this
Mining exit
See Mining entry above for gear considerations.
Teleport exit
Assuming near-endgame traveling game (see traveling gear sets for inspiration). You can get the travel from Kallaheim to Salsfirth down to below 1000 steps. Given this and the relatively low cooldown on the Ring of Homesickness, it becomes probably the best general option. Once you are in Kallaheim, you have a bank and take our your best Jarvonia and GDTE traveling gear to go back to Salsfirth where you can bank again and take our your Bog gear again.
If using the Mining entry into the Bog, than the Algae Ring teleport to Vastalume makes sense to use as there are fishing activities in the Bog to trigger the ring teleport effect.
Traveling inside the bog
Traveling inside the bog requires at least 2 Light Sources. In order to travel to all locations, 3 light sources are needed in total.
The ideal items to use for this depend on the activity you will be doing.
The Gem Shield is currently the only item in the Secondary Slot. It is thus best in slot for the Bog and provides a permanent light source. It is best in slot for general traveling as well.
Not all skill have (good) Hands Slot items, making the Angler Gloves a possible best in slot.
The Silver Sun Stone Ring and Gold Sun Stone Ring are two other slots that can easily get you to the 3 light sources necessary without sacrificing much.
The Advanced Diving Gear Set is needed to travel to and from Bog Bottom.
