The best place to do bulk smithing of materials into bars (with the exception of smithing Farganite Bars which requires the Frozen Forge) is the Underwater Forge in Syrenthia.
With a good set of diving gear you can maximize NMC and nearly double your output. This set will get you 1.92 times the inputs.
